College Help!

A Thinking Person’s Manifesto on Education

Let’s start by addressing the following question: “What is the purpose of college?” Students increasingly view college as a requirement to move into the next stage of life as if it is a predetermined right of passage and that future success and happiness are dependent on going. Well, that is simply not true! College is not a transactional place where you pay tuition and then get a future. You as the student have more control and agency over your own lives than that. While it is true that a college degree will open doors and create opportunities that are harder to achieve without one, YOU are really the person that will do the work. A degree does not earn you a job, future or fulfillment. Furthermore, even if you are enrolled in one of the most prestigious universities in America, if you do not seek out and soak up all the learning opportunities afforded to you, then you will leave college unprepared for the world ahead.
